The Royal Academy of Art was founded in 1768 by a group of 40 artists and architects who became the first Royal Academicians. They’re run by the Royal Academicians, artists and architects elected by their peers in recognition of their exceptional work. They also put on world-class exhibitions of art from around the world, welcoming hundreds of thousands of people to their galleries each year.

In a magnificent room overlooking Burlington Gardens, the RA’s Senate Room has been restored and embellished by Sir David Chipperfield RA. It’s a perfect spot for a light lunch. Inspired by its Italianate surroundings, the menu features a selection of antipasti, salads and crostini alongside daily pasta specials, cured hams and regional cheeses, accompanied by a range of proseccos, Italian wines and classic soft drinks.
Enjoy your lunch with your Curator/Tour Leader and indulge in some art discussions. If you wish to have some wine, it can be served on extra payment.

Georgian architecture, opulent arcades and gentlemen’s clubs have traditionally been the main draw in London’s St James’s, though recent years have seen an influx of contemporary art and design galleries, joining more historic institutions such as Christie’s and the ICA. Enjoy the walk down to St James’s and catch a public auction at the Christie’s Auction House.
The day ends with summing up and feedback along with attractive offers for other art tours of London and other art destinations of the world.
